Status ailments in SMTV: Vengeance are debuffs that can negatively affect your party or your enemies. There are eight status ailments in total, all from the original SMTV, and nothing new with the Canon of Vengeance storyline. Here’s how all status ailments work in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance.

Unless stated otherwise, the majority of these status ailments can be cured using consumables such as Amrita Soda or Amrita Shower. You can also cast skills to heal status ailments like Patra and Diamrita. Any status ailments inflicted on party members will also wear off once the battle ends.

There are certain status ailments that you cannot heal using items or skills, such as Mud and Shroud. Then there’s Sleep, which you can cure by taking damage, which wakes you up. To inflict status ailments or to cure them you’ll typically require enough MP, but you also may struggle to recover MP during your playthrough.
