First teased in May and later announced at Computex 2024, the Zotac Gaming Zone has launched today. The gaming handheld is now available to pre-order in select e-tailer platforms and regions, and it has a launch price of $799, the same as the recently launched Asus ROG Ally X.
However, unlike the ROG Ally X, the Zotac Zone features an AMOLED screen. The company says that the panel delivers a wide color gamut and can offer deep blacks. It has a 120 Hz refresh rate and a maximum brightness rating of 800 nits, much higher than Asus’s top-end gaming handheld.
Another highlighted aspect of the Zotac Gaming Zone is the control configuration. This new gaming handheld features Hall effect triggers and analog sticks, with the triggers offering a 2-stage adjustment option. Like the Steam Deck, Zotac’s handheld has two trackpads, which are there to make mouse movements easy.
Under the hood, the Zotac Zone packs the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U, a nearly identical chip to the Ryzen Z1 Extreme found in ROG Ally X. However, Zotac’s offering has 16 GB of RAM, matching the non-X variant of ROG Ally and Legion Go (512 GB curr.$598.99 on Amazon). Other highlights include a standard 2280 SSD, a front-facing camera, two USB4 ports, and an ergonomic design.
Zotac says that the gaming handheld will be showcased at Gamescom 2024, set for August 21 to 25. The company will also be presenting its well-known graphics cards and ZBOX mini PC lineup at booth A-078, hall 10.1.
