While the highly anticipated CAMM DDR form factor is not quite ready for mass adoption and will probably become generally available when DDR6 makes its debut in the near future, DDR5 might soon hit a ceiling as far as clocks go, but memory module makers still have some tricks up their sleeve in order to boost performance in a more efficient way. For instance, there is now a new CUDIMM standard that can dynamically adjust clock frequencies and voltages based on workload and system conditions, and the first memory module maker to implement it is V-color.

CUDIMM stands for Clocked Unbuffered Dual Inline Memory Module and the technology helps improve data transfers through more reliable and stable overclocking plus it can also lower power consumption when the workloads are not too demanding. This is achieved with the addition of a custom PMIC circuit and a Client Clock Driver. V-color’s new CUDIMM RAM comes in 2x 16 GB or 2x 24 GB capacities with base DDR5-6400 speeds at 1.10 V that can be overclocked to DDR5-9200 at 1.45 V. The CAS latency is thus lowered to only 44 cycles, but the other latencies are a bit higher, with RAS to CAS 56, RAS precharge 56, tRAS 134 and tRC 190. The modules feature SK Hynix DDR5 RAM chips.

As any respectable memory module producer, V-color offers RGB lighting on its new CUDIMMs from the XFinity series. Another distinctive feature for the new CUDIMMs is the more hefty cooling solution with two 0.8 mm cuboids directly integrated in the heatsink mold that can now closely adhere to the RAM chips, leading to up to 5% reduced temperatures.
