We have already reported on the Xiaomi router BE3600, which is available in China and can be ordered via direct import. Depending on the retailer, direct imports can cost well under 100 euros, but this type of purchase is not without its pitfalls, for example, the enforceability of warranty rights is effectively non-existent when importing. It is now clear that Xiaomi is also launching the BE3600 on the global market, as evidenced by the listing on the manufacturer's global website.
The Xiaomi BE3600 is advertised as a WiFi 7 router. However, there is a limitation here, which the BE3600 also shares with other, inexpensive routers- only the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands are used and not 6 GHz data transmission, so the data rate is also limited accordingly. This is specified as a maximum of 2,882 MBit/s in the 5 GHz band and is limited to 688 MBit/s in the 2.4 GHz band. Among other things, 4K QAM is supported and a Qualcomm SoC with four computing cores is installed.
A total of four Ethernet ports are available. One of the four ports supports a maximum data transfer rate of 2.5 Gbit/s, although this does not necessarily have to be used for connecting to a modem. The speed of wired data transmission can be increased by using two Ethernet ports to connect a device. The establishment of a mesh network with up to 10 routers is supported. Compatibility in such a network should be ensured with most current Xiaomi routers.
