We got our first look at the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4's GPU performance via a Geekbench listing. The Adreno 830 offers a 40% performance uplift over its last-gen counterpart. On the other hand, the Dimensity 9400's Arm Immortalis-G925 MP12 seems to be a lot less impressive, at least on Geekbench.
In the OpenCL benchmark, the GPU scores 16,257 points. Its last-gen counterpart (Arm Immortalis-G720 MP12) scored 14,679 points in the same benchmark, representing a 10% generation-over-generation performance uplift. While its Geekbench showing is less than stellar, an earlier leak stated it could fare much better in GFXBench, where it supposedly trounces the Apple M4's 10-core CPU.
As far as specs are concerned, the Immortalis-G925 MP12 comes with 12 compute units and a peak boost clock of 1,612 MHz, making it one of the fastest smartphone GPUs to launch. It was tested along an unrelease Vivo X200 series smartphone with 16 GB of 10.7 Gbps LPDDR5X RAM. We should know more about the Dimensity 9400 and its components once it launches on October 9.
