Earlier today, Ubisoft canceled its online appearance at the Tokyo Game Show due to “various circumstances.”This announcement was confirmed via an official tweet/post from Ubisoft Japan, where the company expressed its regret for the short notice and issued words of reassurance for its fans, specifically mentioning that its ongoing giveaway campaign would continue despite the event's cancellation (which was earlier scheduled for September 26, 2024). No reasons were specified whatsoever. Also, this isn't the first time Ubisoft has had to apologize to its Japanese fanbase.
Following this, new information has surfaced via Insider Gaming. Fans of the Assassin's Creed franchise will be disappointed to find out that that Ubisoft has reportedly canceled upcoming scheduled press previews for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The previews were supposed to be unveiled next week, with an embargo date to be announced alongside.
Despite these cancellations, there is no current information that suggests that Assassin’s Creed Shadows won't be released on November 12, 2024, as originally planned. The game's reception has been anything but positive so far. Given Ubisoft’s recent turbulence, however, speculations hint that the game might face even more delays. The reason for this could be falling share prices and mounting pressures from investors, as the Insider Gaming report suggests. Furthermore, the cancellation of the previews is not helping Ubisoft's case either.
All that's left to see now is whether Ubisoft will meet its release timeline or not - we'll have to wait for another official announcement for the same.
