Tech for the home has advanced to the point where the consumer has the option to make their next set of personal electronic scales smart too. The 'smart' versionis regarded as an increasingly powerful and helpful home health-tracking tool, according to the market research group Technavio at least.
Its latest research indicates that the smart scale market could grow by as much as $108.54 million by 2028, at an annual compound rate (or CAGR) of 5.22%, as consumers become ever more informed and concerned about up-to-date metrics such as body composition and how they affect their health.
Smart scales are increasingly rated to offer more insight about those on-trend measurements, as OEMs become more and more aware that they might be more helpful than basic body-mass readings on a number of levels.
They include typically health- and activity-focused brands such as Withings, Wyze Labs, Fitbit and Garmin, although other, more generally smart-tech companies such as Xiaomi, Anker and Huawei are also major players in the space.
Then again, the adoption of their smart scale lines still face issues such as their accuracy and reliability, not to mention alternatives that are, moreover, much more portable. They include wearables such as some of Samsung's newer Galaxy Watches, not to mention the dedicated handheld Fitrus Plus 3.0.
