Samsung has kicked off its smartwatch releases for 2024 with the Galaxy Watch FE, just under a month before the expected introduction of not just the Galaxy Watch7 series but also the Galaxy Watch Ultra. In short, the Galaxy Watch FE is a reworked Galaxy Watch4 (curr. $164.99 on Amazon). Specifically, Samsung equips the Galaxy Watch FE with the following hardware:
However, Samsung has dropped the 44 mm variant that it previously offered in the Galaxy Watch4 series, leaving just a 40 mm option for the Galaxy Watch FE. As such, the latter comes exclusively with a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display that outputs at 396 x 396 pixels. Additionally, Samsung has protected the display with Sapphire Crystal glass, which is also the only apparent hardware change from the Galaxy Watch4.
For some reason, Samsung will not offer the Galaxy Watch FE with cellular connectivity at launch. Instead, it has promised to deliver an LTE option priced at $249 later this year. As a result, the Galaxy Watch FE will be initially available for $199 when it launches on June 24. As expected, Samsung will sell the smartwatch in black, blue and pink gold colour options with new watch bands to match.
