Until now, Google has released one size per smartwatch generation. However, rumours have been rumbling for months that the company had effectively developed two Pixel Watch 2 (curr. $289.99 on Amazon) successors. A few days ago, @OnLeaks provided a first look at its direct successor, the Pixel Watch 3, which he claimed would arrive with an unchanged 1.2-inch display surrounded by thinner bezels. As a result, the Pixel Watch 3 is said to be slightly smaller than its predecessor while retaining watch band compatibility between generations.
Supposedly, the same is not true for its larger sibling, which @OnLeaksand Android Headlines refer to as the Pixel Watch 3 XL. Instead, the pair expect Google to equip the Pixel Watch 3 XL with a wider watch band connector. As a result, they claim that all existing Pixel Watch watch bands will be incompatible with this larger option.
To that end,Android Headlinesreports that the Pixel Watch 3 XL measures 45 x 45 x 13.89 mm. In other words, the smartwatch will be smaller than the 47 mm version of the Galaxy Watch6 Classic and Apple's Watch Ultra 2. Conversely, these dimensions would make the Pixel Watch 3 XL a bit bigger than the Galaxy Watch6 44 mm or Watch Series 9 45 mm. Regardless, the jump to a 45 mm housing will allow Google to install a 1.45-inch display. Presumably, the Pixel Watch 3 XL will offer better battery life than its smaller sibling thanks to a larger battery; neither@OnLeaksnorAndroid Headlineshave published any information in this regard, though.
