The key specs of the new laptop are likely to remind some of their school days. It has 8 MB of memory and a 7-inch IPS display that supports 640 x 480 (4:3) and 800 x 480 modes; lots of retro ports and a 386 SX-compatible Ali M6117 processor running at 40 MHz are included as well. One look at the spec sheet makes it clear that the product will only be able to handle tasks about as old as Windows 95 including first and foremost old-school games. (The power available under the hood lets the laptop run Road Rash at 640 x 480.) For playing those awesome old games on the go, a 4000 mAh battery is used. For typing, it offers a small QWERTY keyboard with built-in mouse functionality to navigate around the OS.
Now for the ports, it has the legacy 16/8-bit ISA port, a USB port, a 3.5 mm jack for the audio which is powered by the OPL 3 sound card, a parallel port and of course, the power connector. Even more interesting is that for more general purpose connectivity, 14 GPIO pins are present as well.
The black color Pocket386 (available on AliExpress) comes with a 12 V charger, a PS/2 VGA connector,a TTL-RS-232 Serial adapter and an Lpt port connector. A transparent case option is also available which comes withoutthe TTL-RS-232 Serial adapter and is somewhat less expensive.
The cheaper transparent case edition of the laptop is currently available for around $200 (this varies depending on the region). The regular price is way over $300.
