PINE64 Oz64 revealed as pocket-sized single-board computer with RISC-V processor

PINE64 is working towards delivering the Oz64, two years after releasing the similarly-named Ox64 in two variants. So far, the company has only listed the Oz64 on its wiki with no official word on pricing or availability yet. Nonetheless, the wiki page confirms various hardware details while also providing a look at what it describes as a 'low cost' single-board computer (SBC).

Specifically, the PINE64 Ox64 measures 85 x 56 mm, a model-B form factor that has led the likes of CNX Software to describe it as a 'credit card-sized SBC'. In short, it seems that the new SBC will serve as a more powerful alternative to the existing Ox64. Although PINE64 does not admit as much in its wiki post, the SOPHGO SG2000 processor will outperform the Bouffalo Lab BL808 inside the Ox64. For reference, the SOPHGO SG2000 contains the following hardware:

  • Main core: Configurable RISC-V C906 or ARM Cortex-A53 (1 GHz)
  • Minor core RISC-V C906 (700 MHz)
  • Low-power core: 8051 MCU (25-300 MHz) with 8 KB SRAM
  • NPU: 0.5 TOPS INT8 with support for BF16
  • 512 MB DDR3 DRAM (SiP)

Additionally, the Oz64 has a 26-pin GPIO header at its disposal, as well as an eMMC flash storage connector and a MicroSD card reader. Moreover, the SBC supports Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity or a wired internet connection at up to 100 Mbps through its RJ45 port that also offers PoE via an expansion board. On top of that, PINE64 has integrated a single USB 2.0 Type-A port, a 3.5 mm jack with a built-in microphone and a 3.5/1.35 mm DC power input. Currently, PINE64 is expected to launch the Oz64 for as little as $12. Unfortunately, it is unclear when that will be the case yet.
