The Philips Hue team has provided an update regarding support for multiple Hue Bridges in your smart home. Currently, users with several bridges must switch between the devices to control their smart lights, cameras and accessories. A page on the company’s website was updated earlier this year, indicating that improved controls for multiple bridges would be released in 2024.

At IFA 2024, representatives for Philips Hue announced that this enhanced functionality was currently in beta testing. The feature was also demonstrated, with the Hue app home page shown to be customizable, allowing the user to order various zones and rooms containing products linked to different Hue bridges as they wished. It is noted that customers can set smart lights to trigger when motion is detected on a Secure camera linked to multiple bridges. However, allowing light switches connected to one Hue Bridge to control smart lights connected to a second unit will not be possible. Philips Hue suggests that this functionality could be added in the future.

On top of this, support for multiple bridges when integrating with Amazon Alexa will arrive at a later date. The first wave of new functionality for multiple Philips Hue Bridges will be released later this year, though the exact launch date has yet to be confirmed.
