Motorola has officially acknowledged the existence of the Moto S50, two months on from releasing the Moto S50 Neo. Since then, the company has been rather busy. On the one hand, it has refreshed its Razr foldable line up with the Razr 50 and Razr 50 Ultra (curr. $899.99 on Amazon). More recently, it has released the following devices globally:

• Moto G35 5G
• Moto G55 5G
• Edge 50
• Edge 50 Neo

By contrast, the Moto S50 is unlikely to ever receive an international launch, let alone a global one. Instead, we suspect that Motorola will confine it to being sold in China and surrounding markets. Although the company has not confirmed as much, the Moto S50 appears to be a re-branded Edge 50 Neo.

To that end, the Moto S50 will rely upon MediaTek's Dimensity 7300 chipset, as well as 12 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 512 GB of UFS 2.2 flash storage. Moreover, the handset utilises the Sony IMX896 as its primary camera, which outputs natively at 50 MP and is aided by optical image stabilisation (OIS); please see our Edge 50 Neo launch article for more hardware details. While Motorola has not announced Moto S50 pricing yet, it will fully reveal the device on September 5 at 10:00 China Standard Time (02:00 UTC).
