Although Microsoft's marketing continues to push Office 365, which is sold exclusively via a subscription, the Group continues to offer an Office version for customers who do not wish to take out a subscription. Microsoft began selling Office 2024 on October 1. Buyers can choose between two packages.
Office Home 2024 costs $149.99 and includes a license for one end device, either for Windows or for macOS. The Home version includes the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. Alternatively, Microsoft also offers Office Home & Business 2024 for $249.99, which includes everything in Office Home plus Outlook 2024. Among other things, Microsoft advertises better performance, especially in large Excel files, as well as a fresh design with a revised menu bar.
Microsoft Office 2024 introduces some of the new features that Office 365 has received over the past three years since the launch of Office 2021, including the ability to insert photos directly from a connected Android device instead of having to transfer them to the computer first. Office 2024 supports the ODF 1.4 file format, which improves compatibility with LibreOffice and OpenOffice.
Emoji reactions can now be added to comments. Dynamic charts in Excel can now incorporate variable length data sets and update automatically when new entries are added. Excel receives 14 new text functions as well as the option of integrating images directly from the web. PowerPoint allows users to use Cameo to integrate a live webcam feed into a slide and add subtitles to videos. Word gets new drawing tools.
