Sony is allegedly preparing to launch the upgraded version of the PlayStation 5, the PS5 Pro. While the gaming console didn't make an appearance at Gamescom, developers attending the event hinted at imminent launch. A recent report from an anonymous user at 4Chan even claimed that Sony would announce it on September 9.
Now, Lunatic Ignus, who proved to be pretty reliable with past leaks, is claiming that Sony will be announcing the PS5 Pro in the coming week. This aligns with the September 9 announcement date suggested by the previous reports. Of course, the leakster hinted that the announcement might happen on "Tuesday/Wednesday," which are September 10 and September 11, respectively.
Ignus further claims that the reveal of the PlayStation 5 Pro will be followed by the 2024 State of Play event. At this, Sony is expected to showcase "first-party content" and a possible "world premiere." However, Ignus notes that the company may skip the "world premiere" at the coming State of Play event. Instead, it may be moved to the 2024 Game Awards event, which is set for December.
Last week, reliable leaker @billibil-kun revealed the design sketch of the gaming console. This design was later reinforced with a promotional material leak from the PS5 Pro, and as we recently covered, Sony has also officially teased the design, hiding it in plain sight in what may appear to be a very ordinary social media post.
