It seems that GoPro is almost ready to replace the Hero 12 Black (curr. $299 on Amazon), which it announced on September 9 last year. According to new rumours originating from a reputed Amazon US listing, GoPro intends to introduce a like-for-like replacement on September 16.
If that rings true, then it could see GoPro announcing its new main action camera a few weeks after DJI debuts the Osmo Action 5 Pro, one of its main rivals. Unsurprisingly, a recent rumour about GoPro overhauling its Hero Black series appears to be far from the mark. As such, the Hero 13 Black looks an awful lot like its predecessor.
For example, a new Macro Lens Mod can be seen in various promotional images, which will be joined by an accompanying Ultra Wide Lens Mod. Reportedly, while the former offers 3x magnification, the latter will expand the Hero 13 Black's field of view (FoV) to 177°. Unfortunately, specifics about the device's camera hardware remain unknown for now.
Nonetheless, GoPro is also said to have created Magnetic Latch and Magnetic Latch Ball Joint mount accessories, as well as new Floaty and Protective Sleeve accessories. Incidentally, early details of what could be aHero 11 Black Minisuccessor have also leaked online, details of which we have covered separately.
