For many gamers, next month marks the beginning of this year’s gaming season, even though fall is still a few more weeks away. Fittingly, PlayStation owners with an active PS Plus subscription will soon be able to grab three games for their PlayStation 4 or PS5 for free.

Sony today officially announced its free PS Plus games for September 2024. Quidditch Champions is the headliner this time around. It’s a game set in the world-famous Harry Potter universe, which will be free to download and play starting September 3, which is also the official release date.

Unlike the wildly successful Hogwarts Legacy, the free PlayStation Plus Essentials game puts an emphasis on its multiplayer mode and employs a comic-like graphics style, which we already reported on when the official reveal trailer was posted.

PS Plus games for September also include baseball and a horror platformer

PlayStation gamers who aren’t into fictional sports should rather take a look at MLB The Show 24, which is also part of the PS Plus lineup for September 2024. Just in time for the most exciting part of the MLB season, baseball fans can experience arguably the best simulation of their favorite sports for free starting next Tuesday. The game currently costs $50 at the PlayStation Store, which means that PS Plus customers can save quite a lot of money here.

The third and last free PlayStation Plus game does not have anything to do with sports. Little Nightmares II is a dark platformer with horror elements and can be played on both PlayStation 4 and PS5, just like the two previously mentioned titles. With a Metascore of 82, Little Nightmares 2 is the best free PS Plus game in the new September 2024 lineup, which is going to be available until October 1.
