New details about one of DJI's upcoming drones continue to emerge online, which is often an indication of its imminent release. To that end, DJI is expected to unveil the Neo next month as a compact drone to rival the HoverAIR X1 (curr. $349 on Amazon). While DJI has not started teasing the drone's launch yet, typically reliable sources have suggested that this could occur late this month.
In the meantime, retail packaging of the DJI Neo has already leaked online, as have a few hands-on pictures. On top of that, several sources have since posted a photo of what appears to be an official Neo render image. Embedded above, the image clearly shows the scale of the drone's propeller guards, as well as its limited gimbal hardware.
Moreover, the same drone has now been spotted in DJI beta software alongside theAvata 2,Air 3andMini 4 Pro. Meanwhile, Jasper Ellens claims to have received confirmation that the Neo will offer up to 16 minute flight times before it needs its battery swapping. The leaker has not provided any variables for how this battery life estimate was determined, though.
Furthermore, Ellens suggests that the Neo will be compatible with not just existing DJI motion controllers but also potentially the company's first-person view (FPV) Googles 3. Conversely, a popular YouTuber expects DJI to deliver a new pair of FPV goggles with LCD panels to meet a lower price point. Unfortunately, no concrete details about these accompanying FPV googles have emerged yet.
