Recent reports have hinted that the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 will be making its official debut in October, which is next month. Qualcomm is also holding Snapdragon Summit next month, in which the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be fully unveiled. Weeks before the official announcement, MediaTek’s new flagship SoC has been making rounds in Geekbench.

On one of the recent listings, which is thought to be for the Oppo Find X8 with the Dimensity 9400, the new MediaTek flagship is shown to achieve a higher multi-core score than the initial runs of Apple A18 Pro. The latter is the latest SoC powering the iPhone 16 Pro models.

Specifically, the alleged Oppo Find X8 has achieved a multi-core score of 8,833. To compare, in one of the recent benchmark runs, the Apple A18 Pro secured a multi-core score of 8,492. That means the new MediaTek flagship SoC scored around 4% better in this segment.

The tables turn when you consider the single-core score. On those specific Geekbench runs, the Apple A18 Pro scored 3,409, while the Oppo Find X8 with Dimensity 9400 scored 2,889. So, the iPhone 16 Pro SoC has over 17% lead over MediaTek’s flagship in this comparison.

However, both the single-core and multi-core score of the Dimensity 9400 are higher than the Dimensity 9300. In our benchmarks, the latter got 2,207 and 7,408 points, respectively. So, in this seemingly Oppo Find X8 listing, the new MediaTek SoC is nearly 31% faster in single-core and around 19% better in multi-core.

But, again, this is an early Geekbench run of Dimensity 9400, and the scores can be different after the SoC is officially announced. So, take it with a pinch of salt.
