BenQ has launched the GV50 1080p projector in the US. With a flexible base, rotating 135° vertically and 360° horizontally, the model can throw images up to 120 inches (~305 cm) wide onto your ceiling or wall. The projector covers 92% of the Rec.709 color gamut and has a 100,000:1 contrast ratio.
The GV50’s laser light source delivers up to 500 ANSI lumens brightness, and the model supports HDR10 and HLG. A physical zoom lever and other controls on top of the projector allow you to adjust the screen size and avoid obstacles easily. Image-perfecting tools include automatic focus and 2D keystone correction, screen fit and image rotation. Google TV provides access to many app-based streaming services, Chromecast wireless screen casting and Google Assistant voice commands. Plus, the projector has a sleep timer that allows you to set the device to run off after a period, and Night Shift adjusts the colors to help you fall asleep.
On top of this, there are built-in 18W 2.1 channel speakers that support Dolby Audio. BenQ notes a Ceiling Cinema Sound Mode which is said to avoid blocking sound from the subwoofer. The integrated battery can power the projector for up to 150 minutes, recharging via USB-C, and can also be used like a power bank charge smaller devices like your phone. Other ports on the model include HDMI, USB-A and a headphone jack. You can buy the BenQ GV50 Laser Portable Projector in the US for $599.00. The model is expected to arrive in countries such as the UK shortly.
