One of the standout features of the recently launched Beelink GTi 14is that the mini PC has a hidden PCIe x8 slot underneath. At launch, the company said that this would make it easier to connect an external graphics card to the system.
Beelink has now launched the EX graphics card expansion dock, which is meant to pair with the mini PC. As no intermediary USB4 or OCuLink port is needed for the connection, it promises lossless bandwidth, leading to better gaming performance.
Compared to alternatives like the Minisforum DEG1, the Beelink EX graphics card expansion dock features a built-in 600W power supply. That means you don't need to purchase an additional PSU to get the eGPU setup working. Moreover, as the built-in PSU has higher wattage output than the one in AOOSTAR AG01, it supports high-performance GPUs like the Nvidia RTX 4090.
Another interesting aspect of the Beelink EX eGPU dock is that it is multi-functional. It can accommodate an M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSD (2 TB Samsung 990 Pro curr. $168 on Amazon), which can be used to expand the storage of the connected mini PC. You can also install a WiFi module to get a better wireless connection. There are ports for WiFi antennas as well. However, note that the WiFi module and SSD can not be installed simultaneously.
Pricing-wise, the EX graphics card expansion dock is currently on sale for CNY 599, which is around $83.58. Beelink has yet to share details about global availability and pricing, but the company does sell the compatible GTi 12 Ultra and GTi 14 Ultra outside China. So, there's a good chance that this new eGPU dock will make an international debut.
