Announced three weeks ago, when the first developer beta build was unleashed, iOS 18 is still in the preview stage. The latest version, labeled 18.0 beta 2, was released on June 24th. However, there are already circulating rumors about the development of several next-gen operating systems from Apple, including iOS 19.
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, these are the major pieces of code that Apple is already working on and their nicknames:
Obviously, it's too early to talk about specific features and release dates, but it is almost certain that all the next-gen software products coming from Apple will use its own AI solutions without partnering with Meta. Gurman found out from insiders familiar with Apple's inner workings that Meta is not considered a solid partner in this field, as the AI teams in Cupertino are looking up to OpenAI(already confirmed at WWDC 2024 as a partner for future software solutions), Google, and Anthropic as much better providers of AI services and products. The other partner(s) chosen should be unveiled to the public this fall, around the launch of Apple Intelligence.
Although not yet available to the public, Apple Intelligence has been covered in a few books already. Such a book is Antonio D. Dixon's Apple Intelligence : A Comprehensive Guide.: An in-depth exploration of Apple's AI technology and its applications., which is available in Kindle ($8.99) and paperback ($17.99) formats.
