Anker has unveiled the Prime Charger (65W, Slim, GaN) in Japan. The ultra-thin model was revealed as part of a wider Prime product launch, which included accessories like the Prime Charger (200W, 6 Ports, GaN). However, this product is not scheduled to launch until later this year.
Japanese media outlet onesuite indicates that, at 12 mm (~0.5 inches) thick, this will be the thinnest USB-C fast charger from the brand. It also suggests that the accessory is around the same size as a credit card, measuring 8.6 x 4.5 x 1.2 cm (~3.4 x 1.8 x 0.5 inches) and weighing 80g (~0.2 lbs). The 'Dynamic Plug Structure' design means the pins fold horizontally; older models with folding pinslike the Prime Charger (100W, 3 Ports, GaN)use a vertical mechanism. Plus, the central element holding the pins can rotate 90° forward and backwards.
The charger has two PowerIQ 3.0 USB-C ports, offering a maximum output of 65W and 45W. How the power is distributed when the two outputs are used simultaneously is unclear. The Anker Prime Charger (65W, Slim, GaN) will launch in Japan for ¥6,990 (~$47) this winter; an exact release date has not been provided. It remains to be seen whether or when versions for other markets like North America or Europe could launch.
