Audi just announced its 2025 Q6 e-tron lineup, and the price and specs make abundantly clear why its electric vehicles are a hard sell, so much so that it is now shutting down thee-tron factory in Brussels.
In the US, the lineup starts from the sizeable $63,800 for which one gets the base RWD Q6 e-tron model with 321 miles of EPA standardized range from a rather large 100 kWh battery.
For comparison, the Tesla Model Y LR offers 320 miles of range with a smaller battery, but starts from$37,490 after the federal tax credit, and even$31,490 with Tesla's estimated "gas savings" or with various state incentives.
The top SQ6 e-tron model is$79,300 and offers 509 HP and 275 miles of range, while the Tesla Model Y Performance with nearly the same specs costs$43,990 after the tax credit.
Granted, the2025 Q6 e-tron has plenty of features that the Model Y currently doesn't have, like an 800V powertrain hence 20-minute charging, but the upcoming Model Y Juniper refresh will most likely negate that advantage.
Audi offers a rather complex number of configurations for the three RWD, AWD, and the performance SQ6 e-tron models that are available in either Premium, Premium Plus, or Prestige trims. The Q6 e-tron is built on Audi's new Premium Platform Electric and E3 1.2 electronic architecture and offers 5-link independent suspension with drivetrain able to tow up to 4,400 pounds.
One area the Audi Q6 e-tron will have a leg up against the Model Y is the interior, though, where a second generation high-res HUD with up to 13,500 nits brightness comes standard, while an innovative dynamic interaction light tells passengers what is going on in and around the vehicle.
"Comprised of 84 LED elements, the light communicates a host of information including directional cues for navigation, hazard warnings and easily discernible charging status cues visible from outside the vehicle," says Audi, which will probably look as impressive as it sounds.
Audi will start delivery of the 2025 Q6 e-tron series across its various US dealerships by the end of the year.
