All Primer missions and rewards in Zenless Zone Zero

In Zenless Zone Zero, the Primer is accessed through the Compendium via the main menu or at the top of the screen outside of commissions. Every Primer task rewards you with some currency, and completing every task in a Trial earns you a big reward and allows you to move on to the next.

While Primer tasks can technically be completed at any point, you can only claim rewards for your current Trial. Here’s every Primer Trial, task, and reward.

Primer Trial No.01

Primer Trial No.01 introduces you to Zenless Zone Zero’s core concepts and throws in a little currency to get you started. You’ll more than likely complete this entirely naturally within the game’s first hour or two.

Rewards: 50 Polychrome, 1 Master Tape, 2 Senior Investigator Log, 10000 Denny

Upgrade an Agent to Lv. 10

Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) Primer guide: All missions and rewards explained

Levelling Agents is done manually through the Agents Menu. Select the Agent you want to level, select Basic Stats, and then the arrow next to their Level. Use your Investigator Logs, which you should have plenty of already, to level an Agent to Level 10.

Rewards: 100 Inter-Knot Credit, W-Engine Energy Module

Upgrade a W-Engine to Lv. 10

Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) Primer guide: All missions and rewards explained

For Genshin and Honkai Star Rail players, W-Engines are Zenless Zone Zero’s version of Weapons and Light Cones, respectively. Leveling W-Engines works similarly to leveling Agents, albeit with the W-Engine Energy Module resource.

You can level W-Engines in the Equipment section of any Agent by selecting a W-Engine, then Enhance. Alternatively, you can level W-Engines straight from Storage in the main menu.

Rewards: 100 Inter-Knot Credit, Senior Investigator Log

Complete 1 Exploration and 1 Combat Mission

Early in ZZZ’s story, you’ll naturally unlock the HDD in the Video Store and will be tasked with completing an Exploration and Combat Mission. Exploration Missions revolve around navigating Hollow TVs, while Combat Missions are, well, combat-focused.

Rewards: 100 Inter-Knot Credit, Senior Investigator Log

Go to Waterfall Soup for some noodles

Waterfall Soup is a delicious noodle shop in the City (ZZZ’s open world) that opens after completing the Logistics Disaster Combat Mission early in the story. Since General Chop was the one to commission you, he’ll offer you a free meal.

Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) Primer guide: All missions and rewards explained

If you weren’t feeling hungry at the time, visit Waterfall Soup next to the Video Store to exchange some Denny for a meal to complete this Primer task. Chowing down on Chop’s noodles will provide you with a temporary buff linked to the food you chose.

Rewards: 100 Inter-Knot Credit, 5000 Denny

Complete the Main Commission “The Proxy and the Hare”

The Main Commission, also known as a Story Commission, is the primary campaign (MSQ) for Zenless Zone Zero. The Proxy and the Hare is the game’s first Main Commission, which you’ll naturally complete by following the quest objective in the top left corner.

Rewards: 100 Inter-Knot Credit, W-Engine Chip

Primer Trial No.02

Primer Trial No.02 introduces you to more Zenless Zone Zero gameplay elements, such as gaining materials and improving Agents and W-Engines. Like the first Trial, every Primer task in Trial No.02 is completed naturally through the main story.

Rewards: 50 Polychrome, Master Tape, 2 W-Engine Energy Module, 15000 Denny

Go to Godfinger and play an arcade game once

Shortly after completing the second Main Commission and reopening the Video Store, Billy will message you to meet him at Godfinger Arcade across the street. This is part of the story, so you’ll have no choice but to play a round of Snake Duel with Billy.

Rewards: 100 Inter-Knot Credit, W-Engine Energy Module

Drink coffee at the Coff Cafe

After completing the fourth Main Commission, Explosive Last Train, Tin Master will request some temporary work at the coffee shop in the City. After a very short quest, the Coff Cafe will be open for business. Purchase a cup of coffee to receive a Battery Charge, temporary buff, and to complete this Primer task.

Rewards: 100 Inter-Knot Credit, 5000 Denny

Head to the HIA Club and complete 1 round of Combat Simulation

Unlocking the Coff Cafe (detailed above) also grants access to the HIA Club, which is accessible via the Business Car in the Parking Lot gate next to the Video Store. Upon your first visit, you’ll be introduced to Combat Simulation and will enter your first round, completing this Primer task.

Rewards: 100 Inter-Knot Credit, Senior Investigator Log

Promote 1 Agent 1 time

Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) Primer guide: All missions and rewards explained

Once an Agent has reached Level 10, you can promote them to raise their level cap to 20. Select the Lv. 10 Agent you want to promote, select Basic Stats, then select the arrow next to their level to promote them.

Promoting costs Certification Seals for your Agent’s role (e.g., Stun Certification Seal), which are obtained through Agent Promotion Combat Simulation rounds.

Rewards: 100 Inter-Knot Credit, 2 Basic Offense Certification Seal

Modify any W-Engine once

Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) Primer guide: All missions and rewards explained

Modifying a W-Engine raises its level cap by 10. To modify a W-Engine, select it from a character’s Equipment tab or from Storage, select Enhance, click the arrows next to its level, and then Modify.

You’ll need Components that match the role of the W-Engine effect to modify it, which are obtained through Combat Simulation. To grab some Components, select the Compendium, then Training, and W-Engine Modification.

Rewards: 100 Inter-Knot Credit, 2 Attack Component

Primer Trial No.03

Primer Trial No.03 is super easy to complete and awards the A-Tier Starlight Engine, which is a fantastic W-Engine for Attack characters at this point in the game.

Rewards: 100 Polychrome, 1 Master Tape, 1 Starlight Engine, 20000 Denny

Reach 400 Engagement in today’s Errands

Errands are simple daily tasks accessed through the Compendium. Completing an Errand typically earns you 100 Engagement. Simply complete four Errands in a single day to earn max engagement and complete this Primer task.

Rewards: 100 Interknot Credit, 2 W-Engine Energy Module

Upgrade two Agents to Lv. 20

Once a Lv.10 Agent has been promoted (which you did earlier), you can level them to 20 in the same way. At this point in Zenless Zone Zero, I recommend leveling your whole squad to Lv. 20.

Rewards: 100 Interknot Credit, 2 Senior Investigator Log

Upgrade two W-Engines to Lv. 20

Modify two Lv. 10 W-Engines and level them to their new cap of 20 to complete this task. If you need more Components, complete some W-Engine Modification Combat Simulations under the Training tab of the Compendium.

Rewards: 100 Interknot Credit, 2 W-Engine Energy Module

Complete the Main Chapter “Cat’s Lost and Found”

Keep following the main story to complete Cat’s Lost and Found, the first Chapter of Zenless Zone Zero.

Rewards: 100 Interknot Credit, 10000 Denny

  • Inter-Knot Reputation Level 20
  • Collect a total of 40 Observation Data

Complete the Commissions lined up for you at your HDD, and you should be able to complete these requirements without a problem.
