Pax Dei may be a pretty demanding game with all of your neighbors building and harvesting resources. To minimize the impact on your performance, you’ll need the best graphical quality settings.
Pax Dei doesn’t have a lot of graphics settings for us to dive into, but enough to help performance for anyone experiencing issues.
The only settings you’ll really have to bother with are “Overall quality” and “DLSS Mode.” And even playing with these settings won’t negate the building items not appearing glitch.
Honestly, there isn’t a lot of difference between the High graphical setting and the Low. All I could really detect was a difference in ground textures; however, the grass looks completely fine in both High and Low settings. This means that it may not have much of an impact on performance, but is worth setting to low if you’re having issues.
Next, I would adjust the DLSS Mode. Depending on the severity of your performance issues, you may wish to turn it down to “Performance” or “UltraPerformace.” On the lowest setting, the DLSS may make you motion sick as all the lines become fluffy and blurred.
The game does look noticeably worse on UltraPerformance Mode, but honestly, it’s not too bad, so feel free to lower it if you’re having issues.
“Show Motion Blur,” “VSync Enabled,” and “Use Occlusion Culling” are all turned off by default. To improve performance even further, you can turn on Occlusion Culling to make sure your PC isn’t rendering in items that you can’t see, saving on resources. You can also enable VSync to lock your FPS to an even and consistent setting.
I have heard that changing to “Window mode” can help with performance issues. So it may be worth changing from Borderless to Windowed, although when I tried it, nothing actually changed. This is because you must then select the Resolution that you want the game to be at, as it will remain the same upon entering Windowed mode.
The biggest Windowed resolutions you can select are 1600×900 and 1600×1000, so if you’re not happy with these dimensions, then it may be worth skipping this step.
If you heed all of this advice, I’d be very surprised if you’re still experiencing graphical issues with Pax Dei; the only hope then would be to wait for Mainframe Industries to improve the optimization of the game, as the current settings are a little lackluster.
With these changes, you should be able to have a much more consistent and pleasant graphical experience when playing Pax Dei. With these settings, you may be able to finally locate Clay with ease.
