HP has announced new Envy 6100 and 6500 All-in-One Printer Series printers in the US. The two wireless models, the 6555e and the 6155e, are designed for home use and marketed as the first printers of their kind thanks to support for the Display P3 color gamut.
HP calls this “true-to-screen technology” and says it allows you to print photos that match the image shown on your laptop or phone more closely than an sRGB printer. It is worth noting that it only works with photo paper and is designed primarily for iPhone users; cameras on models from the iPhone 7onward support the Display P3 Wide color mode. When printing in color, the resolution is 4,800 x 1,200 (optimized) DPI and the ISO speed up to 7 ppm. If printing in black, the resolution is 1,200 x 1,200 (rendered) DPI and the ISO speed is up to 10 ppm. The printer tray can handle up to 100 sheets, and the printer requires two cartridges, one black and one tri-color, with 160-page and 120-page yields, respectively.
Other features of the Envy 6100/6500 printers include automatic double-sided (duplex) printing, borderless printing, scanning and copying. The main difference between the 6155e and the 6555e is that the latter features an automatic document feeder for faster scanning or copying. The printers have a 2.4-inch color touchscreen and, thanks to dual-band Wi-Fi, can also be controlled via the HP Smart app. The HP Envy 6555e All-in-One Printer and the HP Envy 6155e All-In-One Printer are now available for $159.99 and $139.99, respectively. It is worth noting that a pair of official replacement ink cartridges are priced at $45.99.
