Improving Google Maps

Google Maps relies on third-party data, occasionally leading to inaccuracies. Users can contribute to improving the service's accuracy by suggesting edits. This can be done via the app (Android and iOS) or the website.

To edit details of a venue (opening hours, website, etc.), open the location's details card and tap "Suggest an edit." For broader changes like correcting street names or adding roads, locate the error on the map, click/long-press, and select "Suggest an edit," "Add a missing place," or "Add your business" (for business owners). Submitted edits are reviewed by Google Maps staff before implementation. Providing supporting evidence, such as photos, increases the likelihood of approval.

To add your business, visit Google's Business Profile Manager, click "Manage Now," and complete the necessary details. Verification usually involves a postcard with a code mailed to your address.

Enhancing Apple Maps

Apple Maps also allows users to suggest edits and add businesses. On iOS, tap "Report an Issue" at the bottom of the menu to add a place, report street, place, or route issues, or report incidents. On macOS, use the "Maps" menu to select "Add a Missing Place" or "Report an Issue."

Adding a place involves specifying the location, name, category, and other relevant details, including supporting evidence. Reporting issues allows correcting labels, transit times, and other inaccuracies. Again, photos and notes are valuable.

To edit existing business details, open the location's information and select "Report an Issue" to suggest changes or mark a business as closed. Apple reviews all edits before implementation, so providing supporting evidence is crucial.

To add your business to Apple Maps, use the Apple Business Register portal, sign in with your Apple ID, and provide business details. Verification is done via an automated phone call.
