Goku Black, the sinister doppelgänger of Goku, brings a mix of elegance and brutality to Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. Wielding his signature scythe and devastating energy attacks, Goku Black excels at punishing opponents with precision strikes and relentless combos.
His playstyle combines strategic movement with powerful ranged and melee options, making him a versatile fighter for players who value adaptability. With his ability to disrupt opponents and dominate the battlefield, Goku Black is as deadly as he is stylish. In this guide, we’ll break down his abilities, strengths, and strategies to help you master this formidable antagonist.

Input |
Cost |
Effect |
---|---|---|---|
Wild Sense | R2/RT Up on the D-Pad | 2 Skill Count | Dodge the next attack and counter it. |
Finish Sign | R2/RT Left on the D-Pad | 3 Skill Count | Gain offensive buffs. |
Black Power Ball | R2/RT Square/X | 3 Ki Bars | Fires a Beam Super that does over half a bar of damage. |
Black Bind | R2/RT Triangle/Y | 4 Ki Bars | Unblockable Rush Super that does a bar of damage. |
Black Kamehameha | R2/RT Circle/B (when in Sparking Mode) | Full Ki Bar | Beam Ultimate that does a bar and a half of damage. |
For being a character of the Super era, and an antagonist no less, Goku Black might seem like he’s lacking in the strength department. This is mostly to do with the fact that his ultimate form is Super Saiyan Rose, and as such, he can’t do much in base form.
He, however, has a balanced moveset that can take on any opponent, with decent ranged Supers and an unblockable Rush Super, although that last move is a bit expensive. His skills aren’t something worth noting, since you’re better off saving the Skill Count to transform into Rose.
The main purpose of picking this Goku Black over his transformed version is the cost, specifically for DP Battle mode. There, Goku Black costs only five DP, while his transformed version costs eight, making his base form a great way to squeeze more power into a team.
Goku Black starts fights with two Skill Counts on him already, meaning you are almost ready to transform as the fight starts.

Effect |
---|---|---|---|
Instant Transmission | R2/RT Up on the D-Pad | 2 Skill Count | Teleport behind your opponent. |
Audacious Laugh | R2/RT Left on the D-Pad | 3 Skill Count | Enter Sparking Mode |
Black Kamehameha | R2/RT Square/X | 3 Ki Bars | Fires a Beam Super that does a bar and a half of damage when fully charged. |
God Display Slash | R2/RT Triangle/Y | 3 Ki Bars | Rush Super that does over a bar of damage. |
Godly Black Kamehameha | R2/RT Circle/B (when in Sparking Mode) | Full Ki Bar | Rush Ultimate that does two bars of damage. |
This version of the character is comparable in power to the greatest characters of the game, not counting the fused ones. While he no longer has an unblockable Super, he trades that for an unblockable basic Ki blast, as long as you charge the blast while standing still.
His skills are far better too, with a way to instantly enter Sparking Mode as well as Goku’s signature Instant Transmission. The teleportation technique should be used sparingly, otherwise you risk becoming predictable for your opponent.
