Shops of various kinds are scattered around the world in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. You'll find gifts to purchase for your companions, new gear for you to equip, or upgrades for what you already have. One of the shops you'll head to regularly is the Caretaker's in the courtyard of The Lighthouse, the game's hub area.

He's there to upgrade your gear, as well as that of your companions, but you need to improve your relationship with him to unlock the higher-level upgrades that you'll want for the tougher fights later in the game. To do so, you need Caretaker Reputation Points, which aren't easy to get.

How To Get Caretaker Reputation Points

There is one way to get Caretaker Reputation Points, which requires a lot of exploration. Throughout Dragon Age's world, you'll stumble across Mementos - which are one of the game's collectibles. For every one you pick up, you'll be rewarded with 50 Caretaker Reputation Points.

You will also be rewarded with some points, usually in the hundreds, when you complete select story quests. You can't rely on that as a regular way to level up the shop though, so just be happy when it happens.

Where To Find Mementos

Mementos can be hidden almost anywhere. They can be sat on tables in faction headquarters, inside breakable boxes lying around cities, or even available to be purchased from faction vendors.

Purchased Mementos usually cost 150 gold to buy, but otherwise work just like any other Memento, being added to your Library and granting the 50 Caretaker Reputation Points.

You need to find a lot of Mementos to upgrade the Caretaker's shop. Just to upgrade him to rank two, you need 750 Reputation Points, so you will need to pay attention during exploration as you complete quests. Thankfully, there's a lot to find once the game opens up after the first few story quests, so you'll be finding Mementos regularly.
