ASUS has announced the VivoWatch 6, its new flagship smartwatch. The wearable is health and wellness-focused, with medical-grade ECG and PPG sensors. These allow you to take fingertip-based blood pressure and ECG measurements through the dedicated watch apps. However, it is worth noting that this is not an FDA-certified blood pressure measuring device.
The VivoWatch 6’s outer ring has a bioelectrical impedance (BIA), enabling you to measure body composition using your thumb and index finger. This lets you monitor your body fat, skeletal muscle, water content and basal metabolic rate. Other metrics include sleep tracking, Relaxation Index, based on your heart rate variability, and Body Harmony Analysis, logging your daily emotions. You can also view these statistics in the ASUS HealthConnect app, with Care Track providing a way to share your health and location data with loved ones.
On top of this, the smartwatch has dual-band GPS for outdoor workouts, call and message notifications, a find my phone tool and a Pomodoro clock. The wearable has a 1.39-inch (~35 mm) AMOLED display with up to 350 nits brightness, protected by Gorilla Glass., and weighs 60 g (~2.1 oz). According to the company, it can run for up to 9 days, or 14 days in Power Saving mode. The ASUS VivoWatch 6 is expected to go on sale shortly for £109.99; pricing for the US and EU markets has yet to be revealed.
