In Assassin's Creed: Shadows of the Shogun, while stealth and combat are central, romance options add another layer to the experience. This guide focuses on recruiting and romancing Katsuhime, a skilled teppo wielder.

Your first encounter with Katsuhime is during the Naginata assassination questline. To initiate the romance, choose the dialogue option "I like your teppo" during the "Showdown in Sakamoto" section. Otherwise, a standard conversation will proceed. Note that pursuing her romance requires reaching level 29.

Letter From Katsuhime:

Once you're at an appropriate level, find Katsuhime south of the Shimmering Fields in Om, atop a hill. She'll request sake; use the Observe ability to easily locate it nearby. After returning the sake, selecting the dialogue option "It offers time with me" will advance the romance.

The Tale of Genin:

Next, find Katsuhime near Onyu Pass in Wakasa. Follow the signs of a struggle, defeat some pirates, and trigger a cutscene. To further the romance, choose "I do enjoy your company." Otherwise, "I need your help" will suffice for recruitment.

The Diary of Lady Rokkaku:

Locate Katsuhime in Ado River Valley, Omi. She'll be in trouble; rescue her from enemies and carry her to the marked safe spot (hold B on Xbox or Circle on PS5). This will solidify her trust. Choose "Yes, join us" to recruit her and continue the romance.

The Jounin Pillow Book:

The final encounter is in western Sotomo Gate, Wakasa. Select "Let's find out" to initiate the romance scene. Choosing "Yes, forever" confirms a committed relationship. The game doesn't appear to penalize romancing multiple characters.
