With the 1.6.9 update, Stardew Valley introduced a real treat: Legendary Roe. If you’re eager to add this rare delicacy to your collection, it’s time to get your hands dirty and reel in some legendary fish.

Unlike your typical pond fish that just pop in for a quick roe production, these legendary ones come with their own unique rules and locations. In this guide, we’re here to help you navigate the waters and snag these catches so you can transform them into the sought-after roe. With a little patience and strategy, you’ll be reaping the rewards in no time. Let's dive in.

How To Get Legendary Roe

Unlike regular fish that can be tossed into ponds for quick roe production, Legendary Roe requires you to place a legendary fish in a pond, where it will slowly generate roe over time.

To start, you’ll need to catch one of these legendary fish, each with its own unique conditions and locations. After snagging one, place it in a pond, and it will eventually produce roe. Keep in mind, only one legendary fish can inhabit a pond at a time, and they won’t repopulate like other fish.

We tested this with a Glacierfish , and its Roe sells for 530 gold and produces four units at a time. Selling all units at once nets you 2,120 gold. If you let it sit in a Preserves Jar for three days, each Aged Roe unit will sell for 1,484 gold, resulting in a total of 5,936 gold when sold in bulk. This makes the process very profitable.

What Are The Legendary Fish?

The five legendary fish — Angler, Crimsonfish, Glacierfish, Legend, and Mutant Carp — each require specific fishing levels, locations, and, in some cases, bait or weather conditions. Notably, you can only catch one of each per save file. The following table provides details on each legendary fish, their locations, and the conditions for catching them:

Catching legendary fish is made easier with the Trap Bobber and Iridium Rod .

Fish	Location/Season	Requirements
Angler	Pelican Town (Fall)	You must be standing at the northernmost end of the river and have a fishing level of three or higher.
Crimsonfish	The Beach (Summer)	You need to stand at the far east end of the beach with a fishing level of five or higher, and the bobber must land in water at least four tiles away from any land.
Glacierfish	Cindersap Forest (Winter)	You should fish from the southernmost tip of Arrowhead Island, with a fishing level of six or higher, and ensure the bobber is four tiles away from land.
Legend	Mountain Lake (Spring, Rain)	It requires a fishing level of ten, and the player must fish in a zone five area, at least five tiles away from any land.
Mutant Carp	The Sewers (All Seasons)	It is available year-round and has no special fishing requirements.

We did not include the Extended Family legendary fish because they’re only available after completing Mr. Qi's Extended Family Quest.
