NetEase Games' completely new work announced at gamescom Opening Night Live 2024 is a slow life simulator depicting life in a world above the clouds .
I wonder if it means Utopia that floats. The English title is ``Floatopia'' , and the Japanese title for Japan is ``Yumeno Compass'' . It will be distributed on multiple platforms including PC / PS5 / Xbox / Switch / iOS / Android within 2025.
I tried out the English version of this game at gamescom 2024, so I'd like to share with you my report.

The setting of this work is a fantastical world overflowing with supernatural powers. Players become residents of the floating island
``Floatland''
, and travel through a fantastical world while enjoying the leisurely island life.
The characters
look like miniature dolls and are cute
, and it seems like they are making dolls. There weren't many options this time as it was a demo version of a game that had just been announced, but the impression changes depending on the combination of big sparkling eyes, fluffy hair, decorations on the face, etc., so you can choose your ideal child. It was fun to create.

Once the character makeup is complete and we arrive at the island, we greet the residents. The beginning is like a tutorial, where you are taught how to talk to residents, build your own home, and redecorate your home. Characters can run and jump, but they are not required to perform particularly difficult operations. When building a house, all you have to do is collect the materials you need for the building you want to build, such as stone and wood.
There is one interesting thing about collecting this material. Normally in games like this (especially in the early stages) you pick up items one by one, but in this game, it starts with
``Let's vacuum it up!''
.
Vacuum cleaners basically suck and pick up fallen materials by holding down the button, which is really convenient. Although it promotes a slow life, it seems that it is not slow enough when it comes to comfort.

The trial run ended when the furniture was placed in the house that had been assembled from materials and the first night was over. Although I wasn't able to experience farming, fishing, or gathering with a large group of friends as shown on the official website and trailer, it was a game with a laid-back atmosphere similar to the Animal Crossing series.
Furthermore, depending on the level of agricultural work, it will probably appeal to people who like life sims like Harvest Moon, which also have solid work to do.

What really caught my attention while playing was the expressive, fluffy and dreamy character movements and production, as well as the cat-like Floatland. How do characters with slightly quirky supernatural powers live on the island and what kind of journeys do they experience? Stay tuned for future updates.
