Google has finally jumped aboard offering smartwatches in two sizes, three generations into its Pixel Watch endeavour. As pre-release leaks suggested, the Pixel Watch 3 has arrived in 41 mm and 45 mm variants, both with improvements over the Pixel Watch 2. For reference, the Pixel Watch 3 has lined up alongside the following other new Pixel devices:
According to Google, both Pixel Watch 3 variants feature displays that can vary their brightness between just 1 cd/m² and 2,000 cd/m². Additionally, this year's Pixel Watch has thinner bezels, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, which help achieve a 320 PPI pixel density across both display sizes. On top of that, the larger displays can show Nest Cam live feeds for the first time, as well as existing features like serving as a camera viewfinder.
Moreover, Google has included ultra-wideband (UWB) connectivity this time around, along with 32 GB of storage, 2 GB of RAM and batteries that are rated for up to 24 hours of general usage. TheSnapdragon W5 Gen 1 platform from last year's model returns though; Qualcomm has not announced any new smartwatch chipsets since the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 and Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1.
The Pixel Watch 3 is available in multiple options at launch, not least its two sizes. By our count, over a dozen SKUs exist thanks to Google offering the smartwatches in two sizes and with or without 4G LTE connectivity. Consequently, while the Pixel Watch 3 starts at $349.99, it can cost up to $499.99 with LTE connectivity in its 45 mm guise, albeit with two years of free cellular data in the US.
