If you own an iPhone or an Apple Watch, you probably know how convenient it is to check the weather forecast on these devices. But what if you want to see the weather in a different location than your current one? Or you want to track the weather of your home city, and your device isn’t showing that? We are here to help. Let’s learn how to change the location for the Weather app or widget on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.
Changing the weather location on Apple devices is easy. Whether you want to change the default location, add a new location, or switch between multiple places, we’ve got you covered. Let’s start.
If the Apple Weather app is showing weather data for Cupertino, any other location than the current location, or no weather data at all, you must enable location services on your iPhone. Doing so will automatically show the weather details of your current location.
To set the iPhone’s weather to your current location, follow these steps:
Step 1: Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
Step 2: Go to Privacy & Security, followed by Location Services.
Step 3: Enable the toggle next to Location Services.
Step 4: Scroll down and tap on Weather. Select Always.
Step 5: Open the Weather app on your iPhone and you will see the weather of your current location. The default location and the associated weather information will change automatically if you change your location.
Typically, when location services are enabled for the Weather app, your current location will always show on the first screen. If it doesn’t appear, you can change the weather location manually and keep your preferred location as the default location in the Weather app.
To add a default location manually in the Weather app on iPhone, follow these steps:
Step 1: Open the Weather app on your iPhone or iPad.
Step 2: Tap on the List icon at the bottom on iPhone. And on iPad, tap on the Sidebar icon at the top-left corner.
Step 3: Search for the location whose weather information you want to see. Tap on it from the search results.
Step 4: Press the Add button to add it to the list of selected locations
Step 5: Long-press on the location card and drag it to the top. Now, you will see the weather of this location.
Note: If the Weather app still shows the wrong location, learn how to fix the issue.
