Brighter Shores gently tosses you into the quaint town of Hopeport, where you'll be able to explore, complete quests, and defeat enemies. Along the way, you'll be able to get new equipment and eventually enchant it. How exactly do you do this though?

Brighter Shores: How To Enchant Equipment

In this guide, we are going to take a look at how to enchant gear that you obtain. Not everything can be enchanted, but you'll be able to see a list of all potential items that can be enchanted. First, let's take a look at where you can find the Enchantress, who you'll need to visit in order to actually enchant.

Brighter Shores is currently in Early Access on Steam and as such, the content is subject to change. We will update these articles as required.

Where To Find The Enchantress In Hopeport

The Enchantress of Hopeport can be found in Old Street East. From the fountain plaza in the center of town, this is two maps to the right. In this direction, you can also find the town gates.

If this is your first time here, you'll notice that there are a lot of crows in the area. You can attack them to increase your guard level or leave them be (they are passive). The Enchantress Shop is on the southern side of the street here.

What Does Enchanting Do?

By enchanting certain items, you can increase the amount of experience gained. For example, in the image above, you can see an enchanted Fishing Spear which now has 0.4 percent experience boost.

The boost itself is permanent, which means that it pays off in the long run. The Enchantress also mentions that the enchantment is tied to the person rather than the gear. This means that if you get a new piece of equipment to replace an enchanted item, the enchantment will carry over.

Enchanting is an expensive process, so this means that you won't need to spend the money again. The fishing spear we used above as an example costs 55 silver to enchant, which is quite expensive.

What Can You Enchant?

Not everything you have can be enchanted. When speaking to the Enchantress in Hopeport, you'll learn that they refuse to enchant anything that can be used for violence (like swords and armor). As such, you'll find enchantable items only available for other professions.

Below, you can check out a list of all items that can currently be enchanted.

  • Fishing Spear
  • Fishing Rod
  • Cast Net
  • Lobster Pot
  • Oyster Net
  • Trowel
  • Pond Net
  • Secateurs
  • Hand Rake
  • Sickle
  • Hatchet
  • Hand Saw
  • Two Person Saw
  • Tree Loppers
  • PIckaxe
  • Gold Panning Sieve
  • Handcuffs
  • Magnifying Glass
  • Binoculars

By default, you'll see the items that you hold which can be enchanted, but by selecting "Future Items", you can see all the things listed above. If you don't already have the item, you won't be able to see the experience boost or price; it will just say "Item Not Owned Yet".
